Chapter Information
Care to Learn - Republic was established in 2010 as the 6th Care to Learn Chapter. It currently serves students in partnership with the Republic R-III School District.
In addition to serving health, hunger, and hygiene needs, the Republic Care to Learn Chapter also provides a robust weekend backpack program for students known as “Tiger Totes.”
The Republic Chapter also partners with several organizations in the community and hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds for students in need.
The Chapter also participates in Care to Wear community days and often offers the option for logo wear purchases.

High School Social Worker
Christina is one of the Chapter Liaisons for the Care to Learn - Republic Chapter. She also serves as the Secondary School Social Worker for the Republic R-III School District.
As a Liaison for the Republic Chapter, Christina works within the Republic R-III School District to ensure students’ basic needs are being met and to raise funds to ensure Care to Learn – Republic continues its mission.
Christina loves serving as a Liaison for Care to Learn. She says, “Care to Learn is able to show up for families and remove barriers when they are in need. Recently, Care to Learn was able to help a family facing an unexpected health crisis. Care to Learn was able to meet their health, hunger, and hygiene needs! The family was able to focus on getting healthy and not worry about finances.”

Care to Learn - Republic works with the Republic R-III School District to fill these needs for students:
Doctor appointments, dental care, eye exam and glasses, hearing services/equipment, mental health services, pest control services, prescription assistance
Weekend food bags (Pre K – 6th), food pantry (7th – 12th), classroom snacks, grocery vouchers
Clothing and shoe voucher, shampoo and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, period products, lice treatments, laundry detergent, laundry vouchers, household cleaning supplies
Tiger Totes is a crucial weekend meal program designed to eliminate hunger for Republic students when they are not in school. Each week, we distribute nearly 300 food bags to students grades PreK-12th that contain breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items for Saturday and Sunday. The One Heart Pantry is a vital part of the Care to Learn – Republic effort, directly fulfilling our mission to meet students’ emergent needs in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene. Located inside Sweeny Elementary, the One Heart Pantry operates as a free food and toiletry resource available to all Republic students from preschool through 12th grade. Click here to learn more.
