"I support Care to Learn because kids should just be kids."
Doug founded Care to Learn after he heard some sobering statistics about poverty in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri. The growing trend of poverty was an unwelcome shock to the local businessman who had lived and worked in the community for over 40 years. In 2008 Care to Learn met its first need and to date has met over 3 Million Needs. Aside from Doug’s incredible support of Care to Learn, Doug has many other notable accomplishments. He is currently the Goodwill Ambassador to Tanzania, the first person to hold the title, thanks in part to his work to bring clean water to countries in East Africa through the nonprofit World Serve International. In 2010 he was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and as the CASA of Southwest Missouri Champion for Children. In 2011 he was inducted into the Springfield Public Schools Hall of Fame and became the first American on record to descend Mt. Kilimanjaro on a mountain bike. He is a past Chairman of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Volunteer of the Year, and a Sertoma Service to Mankind recipient.
