Wendy Rush serves as the Office Coordinator, where she helps create a welcoming front office experience for guests, board members, donors, and staff. In her role, she supports daily operations through office supply inventory, data entry, and administrative assistance for team members.
Wendy brings nearly 20 years of experience in front office administration, hospitality management, and guest services. Before joining the team, she worked in a resort setting in Southern California from 2004 to 2023, where she developed a strong background in customer service, office operations, and administrative support.
Originally from Ramona, California, Wendy relocated to the Springfield area at the end of 2023 with her husband, James, and their son, Matthew. She also has two adult daughters, Jordan and Marisa, who live in Southern California.
Outside of work, Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and their two dogs, Teddi and P’Nut, taking walks at the Botanical Gardens and Fellows Lake, and appreciating nature.
Wendy is excited to be part of the great magnitude of help Care to Learn provides to kids in need. She is especially moved by the ways Care to Learn meets needs that are often overlooked, such as helping a student access to clean clothes after going without laundry for an extended time.
Favorite Teacher:
Wendy’s favorite teacher was her third-grade teacher, Mr. Gemeroy. After Wendy moved to a new school, he quickly recognized that she was reading above grade level and moved her up two reading book levels. His encouragement helped challenge her academically, and she later qualified for Gifted and Talented Education. Wendy remembers him as a kind and funny teacher who cared enough to help her move forward.
